Hello Carolyn, There is a legend in our Appleton family that a young girl escaped from a convent in Europe to marry an Appleton mariner. It isn't Johanna (Mother)as she was born in Liverpool.Probably isn't Ellen Vearing (Grandmother)although I havn't found her birth the Vearing families are mostly from Poulton Le Flyde near Liverpool.Perhaps it was Homer's wife??Then again some legends are just not true. The Appleton families were generally connected to the sea, mariners & ship builders.I found a baptism for William Appleton (?4 x g grandfather)1766 @ St Peters, father Homer.Still searching,Judith _________________________________________________________________ Get Hotmail on your iPhone Find out how here http://windowslive.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=845706
Hi Judith, I just found a "Mary" and a "Halsey" children of Omer Appleton, all born around the same time as Esther... If you say "Homer" with a British accent would it sound like "Omer?" I wish we could use the 'search' feature on the Lanc -OPR site! Good Morning Carolyn, I traced Omer Appleton through the "IGI Batch Number"this is a great site if you know the church they were baptised in you can track whole families.http;//freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hughwallis/ Found a Batholomew Appleton married Elizabeth Cooper had a son Homer bpt.24Feb.1799 St.Nicholas,Liverpool plus 5 other children. The only birth I found for a Bartholomew ,father Homer, mother Ellinor was bpt.8Mar.1761 St.Chad,Shrewsbury,Shropshire. Do you think this Homer and Ellen Mainwaring could be our's?Who did Esther marry?Regards,Judith _________________________________________________________________ Take a peek at other people's pay and perks Check out The Great Australian Pay Check http://clk.atdmt.com/NMN/go/157639755/direct/01/
