I'm sure some of the kind listers here have visited the Records Office and are familiar with their procedures. I believe you make an appt and book/pay for time on their computers, but do they charge you for making actual copies of entries, say of parish registers? I've e-mailed an LRO form to their office requesting a parish record entry be e-mailed to me with the understanding from their e-mail the first request would be free since I had a specific source/date and it would take less than 15 minutes to accomplish. With my continued research in Lancashire, specifically Liverpool, I hope to have multiple requests that could be fulfilled during one visit (at your leisure) in the future once I have further details.
