    1. [ENG-LIV] Lancashire OPC important update
    2. sally roberts
    3. I have been asked by the Lancashire OPC project to pass on the following information about their (most excellent) website: "We are pleased to be able to announce that the Lancashire OPC Search facility is once more available. It has been a frustrating time for us all, but with certain safeguards we have put in place, we are hopeful that the Search function will remain active without interuption, though during the early stages, we cannot guarantee that there will not be some breaks in service. There are a few important changes that have been necessary following a review of the events that led up to the Search becoming unavailable, but apart from these it should look the same as before. These changes have been designed to have neglibable impact on legitimate users, who will be able to perform as many searches as they wish. However, you are required to enter through the normal link to the main search page. Any bookmarks (favourites) you have to internal pages or search results will no longer work. So please delete any old bookmarks relating to the previous version of Lancs OPC search and do not attempt to bookmark anything other than the designated entry point, which you may bookmark for convenience if you wish. To make use of the Search facility, you must have 'cookies enabled' in your browser. Please note that the search facility must not be used by automated (robotic) applications, any attempt to do this will be blocked. The measures we have introduced are designed to protect the availability and performance of our search for everyone, and to prevent unwanted access which may have caused some of the problems we were experiencing. The rest of the Lancs OPC website is completely unaffected by these changes. For those not familiar with our search, it allows you to search the Lancashire OPC database, by parish or across the county, using a flexible selection of names, events and dates. Thank you for your patience while the search has been unavailable, and our apologies for any inconvenience that this has caused. We invite you to start using the Search once again and wish you all happy hunting." And THANK YOU to the workers at the Lancs OPC for all your hard work on behalf of all family history hunters for Lancashire. Regards, Sally
