Is there anyone on the list who knows about Liverpool Police uniforms in the late Victorian times?  I have a portrait photograph of a young man in what looks like a type of ceremonial uniform, police shaped helmet with a spike and a plain black uniform with frogging.  The badge on the helmet looks as if it might have a Liver Bird in the middle.  The young man is more likely to have been a special constable than a full time policeman. I could send the photograph off list to anyone who knows anything about the subject. Thank you. Tomas.
