Hi all, I've just received my FTM 2010 Platinum and I cant see and difference from the normal FTM 2010. Am I missing something here? Is it just another rip-off by Ancestry.com ?? Hi Joe, I am a bit confused by your query. Did you already own FTM 2010 ? I think this was only released a couple of months ago in UK and I cannot see the point in you buying another copy of the same software! I think the Basic FTM 2010 package had one months free access and the Deluxe edition has 3 months. But basically the differing 'editions' are all the same 2010 software (updated/improved slightly from the 2008/9 software) with varying amounts of extras - including the Ancestry package. The Platinum package has 6 months access included. You may need to give credit or debit details to get the free access. HI Joe, am not sure if you already have a subscription at the moment? Here are the instructions for a new one. Open FTM Click on 'Help' in the second row down (the Tool Bar) - top left hand corner. Scroll down to 'Activate Ancestry Subsciption' A new window will open Click on 'Activate Subsciption' OR 'Activate Later' You need to activate your free subscription with a valid credit or debit card but NO money will be taken during the free subscription period. To cancel your membership without incurring a charge to your credit or debit card, go to www.ancestry.co.uk, login and go to 'My Account', click on 'Cancel Subscription' at least 2 days before the free trial subscription is due to end, otherwise 100% of the monthly Essentials membership price will be automatically debited from your credit or debit card. You need to set yourself a reminder for when your six months is up - so you don't forget to cancel!!! AND print off a copy of these instructions so you don't forget how to cancel. If you already have a subscription running - wait for that to end and then start this free 6 month one.
