I think it's hard to tell what it means. Since he was deceased when the daughter married, he obv was not present to give the info. So perhaps she didn't know the difference, or she thought it sounded better, or simply didn't know. He'd been dead for a good few years and if he had a different occupation in Australia perhaps she hadnt been told what it was.
