Hello, I haven't posted a query about my LEWIS ancestors in a little while. But, I've visited the web site for the Shropshire Family History Society this morning, and was reminded that I've never tried to find out when my ancestor, Richard LEWIS, died. I just checked the FreeBMD site and did a search for that, and 35 Richard LEWIS deaths were in Liverpool or West Derby between 1837 and the 1860's. Only a few of them listed an age, and they were not the age of my Richard. He was born in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, between 1803 and 1805. And, he was having children in Liverpool through the 1830's. So, his death would have been from the 1840's to the1870's. And, I also don't know about the marriage of Richard LEWIS and Elizabeth TROUGHTON. She came from Heswall, Cheshire, but my "hunch" is that they married in Liverpool. I say that because it seems that all of their 7 children were born in Liverpool. And, I don't know when Elizabeth died. Since I just found out about their first 2 children a year or two ago, I have not tried to find birth records for those 2 daughtes, Ann and Sarah LEWIS. I will have to check my notes, but I think they were born during the 1820's. I've been posting queries about my LEWIS ancestors and their family for at least 5 years, so there is a lot of information in the archives of the List. Several years ago I did pay to get the birth cetificate of their grandson, John "Stanley" LEWIS, born Dec. 1859 Liverpool. That is how I found out the correct name of his mother. His father was John LEWIS, one of 4 surviving sons of Richard and Elizabeth. Thank you for your time. Betty (near Lowell, MA, USA)
Betty, You might first consider checking the 1841,51,61,71,81 censuses for the family. That might pin your death dates to a 10 year period.
