Good morning list I've joined this list to try and help a friend of mine who is keen to learn more of her fathers family. The earliest information I have of them is in the 1881 census living at 46 Cherry Lane, Walton-on-the-Hill. The family at the time is as follows: Mary SESSFORD, head, married, aged 33, born Carlisle, Cumberland, wife of Marine Engineer Isaac SESSFORD, son, aged 10, born Ireland, Scholar James SESSFORD, son, aged 6, born Liverpool, Scholar Agnes J SESSFORD, daughter, aged 4, born Liverpool Thomasine SESSFORD, daughter, aged 7 months, born Liverpool I believe Mary may have been Mary Ann Routledge who married Thomas SESSFORD in the Jun qtr of 1870 in the registration district of Liverpool GRO ref no: Vol. 8b Page 230. I've also found the birth registration details for the 3 youngest children as well as another child - Edmund Routldge SESSFORD who was born and died in the Sept qtr of 1873 in Liverpool. This birth seems to confirm Mary's marriage to Thomas above. I have a death registration for a Mary SESSFORD, aged 41, in the Mar qtr of 1892 in the registration distration district of West Derby. I believe all the other children went onto marry and have families of their own. So I'm assuming that Mary and at least the 2 youngest children were living together in the area in 1891 but I haven't been able to find out anything to date. I would be really grateful if someone is able to locate them for me. many thanks Liz Stilwell
Hi Liz and welcome to the List I haven't been able to find Mary and children in 1891 but your friend might be interested to know of another SESSFORD family in Seaton, Cumberland in 1891....Thomas and Ann with their 4 children and the youngest was born St Helens so they were in Lancashire for a while. The next family on the census page is James and Isabella ROUTLEDGE and their 2 sons....might be relatives.
