    3. Hi Betty Thanks for responding - I don't think there is a connection, but it's nice to see the name. It is very common (I was born Lewis), but surprisingly much easier to trace than John's wife Annie Boyce! I found John's father was James, a Wood-carver at the time of his son's marriage. My g.g. father was Thomas Boyce, married Jane Preston. Thomas was a 'Barge Waterman' and I suspect almost illiterate! If I do come across anything likely I'll keep you posted.
