Hello Gillian my mothers brother who lived in Scotland Road - St Anthony's Parish went through the catholic reformatory system - he was aged 12/13, he was sent to the St Aidens Reformatory School Widnes- this replaced the Clarence Catholic Reformatory Ship which was moored in the Mersey --- I have the letters he wrote to his mother - absolutely heart rendering - he was sent to whiston work house from St. Aidens - 1917 to die of TB - he was buried in a paupers grave at ford cemetery. I have photo's the the inside of St Aidens - one word bleak. the children were segregated by religion - do you know your GG mothers religion.
