Hi list, I read in a research manual about the use of death duty records for family history.. has anyone used these records? Are they easily accessed? helpful? whree are they held for Liverpool? Carolyn
Hi Carolyn I believe these records are all held at TNA in Kew in one of the Inland Revenue series. Principally, they will include a schedule of the property owned by the deceased and a valuation thereof. You will get a very good idea of the success in life enjoyed by the deceased: you will not get much in terms of family connections.
