My thanks to Sally and Angelika for your help! The only information I have about Henry Evans snr. is that contained in the wedding licence of his son, Henry Evans jnr, who married in Liverpool in 1875 at the age of 22. The document contains the fact that his father's occupation was that of a striker and, possibly, indicates that he was still living so he may figure in the later censuses of 1861 and 1871. I have no evidence as to where he was born. He could well have been born in Wales and worked in Manchester. John

Hi John, Can you give me Henry Evans jr's marriage details? If I can get a sighting of him in the census, then it may be possible to work backward using the son's information. And where does Manchester or Wales fit in to all this? Have you got any snippets of family legend or are you simply using these as examples?
