Hi All Could anyone advise on best place to start looking for a possible burial place for the Mary Anne Martin shown in this newspaper clipping "In Liverpool, Mary Anne, relict of James MARTIN, Esq, late of the 38th Regiment, and only daughter of Colonel Charles MOORE, of the County Armagh." Thanks Ray Jenkins Surrey,BC, Canada
Thanks so much for posting this info about the fruit exchange programme, Martin. My Dad, uncle and brother were fruit salesmen at Francis Nicholls Northern in Queens Square in the 50s and 60s, so this brought back a few fond memories. Karen in Ontario
BBC1's The One Show showed inside the Liverpool Fruit Exchange tonight along with a couple of people who worked there and some archive photographs and film. Should be on iPlayer. Martin Briscoe Fort William martin@mbriscoe.me.uk

The Chronicle Herald, Halifax, Nova Scotia, April 28, 2014 Florence Clements(December 22, 1937 - April 26, 2014) Clements (Allen), Florence – of Dartmouth. Florence Clements passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 26, 2014. Born in Liverpool, England on December 22, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Florence (Loughran) Allen. Florence immigrated to Canada in 1959 to marry and start her new life. Her early life in Canada revolved around raising her two boys and keeping up with their many antics and adventures. She was a talented painter when she was able to carve out time from her family to pursue her hobby. She had a great love for animals and there was always a dog or two at home following her every move. She was happiest taking the dogs for walks and feeding the neighbourhood wildlife. Having grown up in England during the war years she was a "frugal" shopper. Florence always took pleasure in finding a bargain. She delighted family and friends with designer labels from thrifts stores and likened such occasions to winning the lottery. She loved to garden and was always nurturing back to life wilted plants that most people would throw out. Her home reflected her outlook on life; full of plants, animals and love for her family, friends and neighbours. There was always a pot of tea on the stove to share with visitors. She was very close to her two grandchildren and took her role as Nanny to heart. With much love she helped rear her grandkids and could often be found preparing food groups normally banned from their home for their lunches or snacks. Her grandsons regularly asked their mom for "real French fries" like Nanny makes. Florence was predeceased by her husband Roy Wilson Clements and stepfather Richard Bonson. She will be forever missed by sons; Brett (Dana Martinello), Dartmouth; Gary, Ottawa; brothers Robert, Crewe, England; Richard, Mansfield, England; sister-in-law Christine Sandford, Glen Mills, Pennsylvania; numerous cousins in England including Jean , Barbara, John and Elsie; plus many nephews and nieces in England and United States; and by her beloved grandchildren Robert and Jamie and her border collie Ellie. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 29 from 7-9 pm at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth. The funeral service will be held at the Port Wallis United Church, 263 Waverly Road, Dartmouth on Wednesday, April 30 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA Nova Scotia at www.spcans.ca Share memories and condolences online at: www.mattatallfuneralhome.com

>From Who Do You Think You Are? at http://www.whodoyouthinkyouaremagazine.com - "More than 80,000 films dating back to the early 1900s have been made available to watch on YouTube. "British Pathé has uploaded its entire collection of newsreels to the video sharing website, providing viewers with around 3,500 hours of footage to explore. "Each clip is accompanied by a detailed description of its content, which ranges from bomb damage during the First World War (above), to lighter subjects such as sporting events, seaside holidays and the rather more unusual. "'Our hope is that everyone, everywhere who has a computer will see these films and enjoy them,' said British Pathé’s general manager Alastair White.
