    1. [ENG-LIV] Record 124 Francis Wiatt
    2. William Roberts
    3. Having taken a look at the original image of this record on Ancestry I decided to take a look at other pages of this register and found that it was not just a burial register but contains much more. I was surprised to find one section containing a list of burials of many of Liverpools early African,East Indian and Jamaican residents. The entries typically read something like this William Roberts native of Africa now resident of Liverpool etc. I wonder if any other Liverpool Parish records contain similar information, one thing is certain from now on when I view an original image on Ancestry I will be taking a good look at the other pages that might be available to view. 3. I contacted Lynne to suggest that she also post the message in the Bolton list. William Lever and his wife were both born in Bolton, he did a lot of charitable work in the town - he supported the building of Bolton School on its present site (the school had been endowed by another Lever in the 17th Century). He bought Hall i'th Wood, restored it and donated to the town as a museum. He also bought 67 acres near Bolton which he donated to the town as a public park, he built a bungalow near there with elaborate gardens - the suffragettes burnt the bungalow down. He funded an ambitious plan to redesign the town centre by an architect at Liverpool University and offered to partly pay for the work but it was turned down. http://www.mbriscoe.me.uk/page24.html The other place he is associated with is the Western Isles. He bought the island of Lewis and funded several industrial developments which were not very successful. He offered to donate the island to the people of Lewis but it was turned down and he sold it. He also had the village of Leverburgh built on Harris. 3. There is one more image that maybe someone could look at and give me their opinion. Name: Ann Wiatt (I am looking at this with Ancestry.com) Age: 1 y (1year & 7mo) Died/Buried: Feb 1802 (Lancashire) Looking at the image, she is listed at the Top left of the page. There is a date on the far left – looks like 19. There is another date – looks like 21. Do you see both dates ? So, does this indicate that she died on the 19th and was buried on the 21st ? It also mentions Everton. Is this where she lived ? By the way – here is a listing that I found from the Lancashire OnLine Parish Clerks (it uses the ‘Wyatt’ spelling) Burial: 21 Feb 1802 St James, Toxteth, Lancashire, England Ann Wyatt - daughter of Francis Wyatt & Ann Died: ? Feb 1802 Occupation: Land waiter Register: Burials 1801 - 1803 from the Bishop's Transcripts, Page 110, Entry 29 Source: LDS Film 1468979 Thank you! William Wiatt

    3. Would someone look at a couple of records for me and confirm what I think I see. With Ancestry I found the burial record of Francis Wiatt and Francis Wiat. Same person, two different records. He (age 51) was buried in 1801 in Liverpool. My question is: Looking at the actual records - I can’t make out exactly what it says - but it looks like he died on 28 July 1801 and was buried on 29 July. Francis Wiat is record # 124 – Middle left Francis Wiatt is record # 125 – Top left Does anyone else agree ? And both say Kirkdale. Is that a place – On the record for Francis Wiatt it looks like the column is "where he was from" ? Thank you, William Wiatt

    3. Hello Caroline, Gores Trade Directories have Margaret E.MODSLEY, victualler of The Clock public-house up until 1890. Elizabeth KEITH is shown as victualler thereafter up until 1914 when Thomas GRAY took over the licence. I realise you are on the other side of the world, and I very rarely get to Liverpool Record Office these days (once in the past ten years, I think!) but I believe they will do research on your behalf for a fee. Hope this is helpful, Maria On 11/05/2014 01:48, apollo47@iprimus.com.au wrote: > My great-great-aunt Lizzie Pierpoint (married name Elizabeth KEITH) held > the > licence for this hotel at 31 London Road in Liverpool from about 1891 to > the > 1911 census, and probably beyond. > > I'm wondering if any lister has a trade directory for the period later > than > 1911 to see if she still held the licence?
