    1. [ENG-LIV] "Jas Brand"
    2. Vern Prescott via
    3. Hi All I have just found my grandfather, John William PRESCOTT on a crew list. It shows him signing for the crew of the Empress of Britain on 26 Dec 1907 in Liverpool. Under the column headed "Ship in Which He Last Served" it says "Jas Brand". If anyone on the list knows of a ship or barge by the name "Jas Brand" or "James Brand" would you please provide me with any details. TIA Vern Prescott

    1. [ENG-LIV] CHRISTOPHERSON from Bergen, Norway
    2. HOLDEN DOROTHY via
    3. Christopher (Kristofer/Kristopher) Christopherson (Kristopherson/Kristoferson) born 1855 came to Liverpool as a Mariner from his native Norway. He is on several crew lists and eventually he married and settled in Liverpool and raised a family. He married Mary Jane GRAHAM and they had several children, their son Robert married Mary Page and Robert's daughter Ivy married Robert BIRKETT. Robert Christopherson had several siblings - Edith who married Richard J Anderson, Joseph who married Mary Ellen Jackson, Margaret and Selina (who I cannot find marriages for at the moment) and Christopher, William Henry and Alice who all died in infancy. Christopher always listed his home as Bergen, Norway on his records but, despite the best efforts of a researcher in Bergen we cannot find his parents. On his marriage to Mary Jane Graham he listed his father as Kristopher Kristopherson occupation Farmer. Does anyone on the list connect with this Christopherson family? Happy to share the information I have with you. regards, Dot Dot Holden Dover Kent UK There are three things that can never be retrieved, the spoken word, time past and the neglected opportunity

    1. [ENG-LIV] Commemorative Poem
    2. sally roberts via
    3. A friend of mine found this in her grandfather's diary from the First World War. I find it charming and moving and thought I'd share it with Listers on Remembrance Sunday. The author is unknown. "JIM" "A better or a truer pal than Jim  You couldn't find, not anywhere you went And if we could have We'd have given him A real good marble monument. But p'raps he'd not have liked it near so well He wasn't the chap to snark He didn't have a bit of side And when his leg got took off by a shell He only said - So long - I'm off - and died We buried him, - a han'ky on his face Down by the road as deeply as we could And then out of an ammunition case We made a rough old cross of wood "Here lies a real good pal" we wrote His name & number too we put before we went And when I die I'd like to die like Jim  And not have any blooming marble monument."

    1. [ENG-LIV] Christopherson from Bergen
    2. HOLDEN DOROTHY via
    3. I am trying to find out more about my brother in law's family. His grandfather was Christopher Christopherson, a Norwegian sailor who married and settled in Liverpool. On census records and in various shipping lists he states he is from Bergen and born 1855. A researcher is trying to help us in Norway, but unfortunately the name is very common over there, a bit like Smith here. Does anyone else connect into this family? Christopher married Mary GRAHAM and had several children. Many thanks, Dot -- Dot Holden Dover Kent UK There are three things that can never be retrieved, the spoken word, time past and the neglected opportunity

I completed the request form on the website but have heard nothing back about how to pay for a copy of the register for the marriage of Elizabeth Edwards to George Francis Hardwick in 1901 at St Michaels RC Church Liverpool.
