    1. [ENG-LIV] Lookup at Central Library in Liverpool needed.
    2. Kay Allen
    3. Would anyone living in Liverpool be willing to do some research for me at the library and copy a few records?  I would need a marriage record from Holy Cross Church from 1881 as well as baptism records of their children, if possible.  Don't know where the children were baptized in Liverpool. I am visiting Liverpool from the USA for the better part of day in mid-August and could meet you at the library or somewhere else.  Would be happy to pay for your service.  Please contact me offline at kfa818@yahoo.com..  Thank you very much.  Kay

    2. Joe Bispham
    3. I wonder if anyone can help with information from an old map of Liverpool? I have researched my BISPHAMs back to c1780.Parish records for St Nicholas and St Peters (central Liverpool) have provided much info. However i have noticed whilst checking the Lancs parish site that Bispames(and other spellings) are listed under Hyton, earlier than the records i have. I am wondering if there could be a link to my family tree. My question is ...where would the parish of Hyton have been in the 17th/18th centuries. Hiope someone can help, regards jan bispham

    3. A wee while back there was a couple of messages about LANGTON. I've just been reading a commemorative newspaper out the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral and in there was a piece about the building of the Lady Chapel. A donation of £25,000 towards the building, a huge sum a century ago, was given by the Earle and LANGTON families 'as a thank offering to God for the many material advantages we have derived from our long association with Liverpool, and as a memorial to members of our families who have passed away'. Hullo Everyone Having traced the above from his birthplace in Melsham Wilts and to his career in Liverpool police I find him on the 1911 census as a retired policeman aged 51 living in 23 Epworth street as a licensed victualler with his wife Anzoletta (true) and servant girl My quest is to find out if the above address was his place of work, maybe a pub, its name and whether if it still exists. I hope someone can find out as I have explored many directories. Thanks in anticipation Oliver Lamprey sorry Epworth street Liverpool. thanks

    3. I'm a long time away from the Liverpool waterfront scene but I well recall there being a Langton Dock. I'm hard pressed to remember the master porterage companies then operating (I left in 1966). I was however at school (Liverpool Institute) with a chap called Willie Langton who was an avid supporter of South Liverpool FC. Despite the passing years (60 of 'em) I can still recall his face! 3. I have just answered my own question, in part!!! I looked at the LancsBMD site and found that a Mary D KING had married Robert J G JERVIS in West Derby in 1845. I would like therefore to change my request to one of census information for this couple in 1851 and later censuses please. Thanks again. Mike

    1. [ENG-LIV] Mary Doughty KING, b c 1826
    2. Mike
    3. Thanks to those who have helped me with material on William and William Vale KING. Now I would like help on the next member of the family I am looking for. This could be quite a mission!! The 1841 census has a Mary KING with a, probably rounded, age of 15. Now FreeBMD has a marriage of a Mary Doughty KING in the December Q 1845 in West Derby. I would lay a shade of odds that they are the same person, the family was living in West Derby in 1841 and some family members were still there in 1851 too. The 1841 Mary's mother was Mary DOUGHTY. The males on the same page were Murlaugh BYRNE; Robert J G JERVIS; Patrick RYAN and James WHITEHEAD; unfortunately there were two other Marys in the females. I wondered if anyone could help using the later censuses to find Mary (Doughty) with one of those surnames, especially if there was a KING living with them!! A long straw I know but here's hoping. Thanks Mike in Whakatane NZ
