    3. Hello Gillian my mothers brother who lived in Scotland Road - St Anthony's Parish went through the catholic reformatory system - he was aged 12/13, he was sent to the St Aidens Reformatory School Widnes- this replaced the Clarence Catholic Reformatory Ship which was moored in the Mersey --- I have the letters he wrote to his mother - absolutely heart rendering - he was sent to whiston work house from St. Aidens - 1917 to die of TB - he was buried in a paupers grave at ford cemetery. I have photo's the the inside of St Aidens - one word bleak. the children were segregated by religion - do you know your GG mothers religion. 3. Hi Christine on a similar query I have a Mary Susan Cunningham who appears in the 1911 census as in HM Prison, Walton on the Hill, Liverpool. She was 39, married for 19 years and family folklore has it that this might have been for knocking a policeman's helmet off! The family were in Townsend Street at the time. Can you advise or tell me where I should look to find out exactly why she was there? 3. This site is going to be a great source and I am hoping to do some transcribing. I must say I found quite a few errors ....Freebmd is free and transcribed by volunteers and I have been using it since it started for myself and others without any errors. One example, a cousin purchased the full details of a marriage that took place in St Brigid's in 1893 and the full details said 1873 at All Souls. I have contacted the administrator and hope they look at their data again. 3. Hi Betty Thanks for responding - I don't think there is a connection, but it's nice to see the name. It is very common (I was born Lewis), but surprisingly much easier to trace than John's wife Annie Boyce! I found John's father was James, a Wood-carver at the time of his son's marriage. My g.g. father was Thomas Boyce, married Jane Preston. Thomas was a 'Barge Waterman' and I suspect almost illiterate! If I do come across anything likely I'll keep you posted. 1. [ENG-LIV] I forgot to mention that her trial date was 9th March 1865
    2. I would like to know if possible where my great grandmother would have been sent. She was 13 years old and convicted of Larceny and her sentence was 14 days in prison and 5 years in a reform school. She lived in Liverpool and it was the year 1865. I've tried googling reform schools in Liverpool but all it seems to come up with is for boys her name was Martha Breckell, would appreciate any advice. Regards Gill
