When an email is received or sent and finally deleted is it retrievable, is it archived anywhere. Last year I contacted somebody in the USA regarding the burial of my uncle in New York in 1964 but unfortunately have lost all the emails and cannot remember who I contacted or how. The only way to reconnect would be by tracing the email. Any advice would be welcome. Regards, Ray

Lynda, From my childhood in Lancs we used to use Criddles Black Treacle especially on porridge during the war when sugar was scarce. Try this site from Google 'William E Criddle - 245 Vauxhall Road. 15 Freeman, Lloyd ... the refinery. My suggestion would be to go to this website: http://www.raogk.org/newyork.htm It is a volunteer website in which people state what they are willing to do in the areas that they live in. I have included the website link for the state of New York. I hope this helps. My apologies, but in my haste and cutting and pasting the information, I took out an important piece of information for the records of Marriages 1890 to 1946 from St Martin in the Fields, Vauxhall, Liverpool. It should have included the information that these records are an: "Update to show if the marriage was by Banns or Licence and to complete the cross link with Banns" Regards, Sally

Hi Judith, I'm late getting back to you about your Appleton connection but I think there must be a connection. How many Homer Appletons can there be that are NOT related!!! Not a common name for sure. I have also seen a couple fo Omer Appleton entries on the IGI and I suspect that is just another version of Homer.. How did you get you information? Hello all, Apologies for filling up your inboxes this morning to those who are subscribed to multiple lists. However, after reminding you that you can search for ancestral details via Google, I remembered that Paul Dixon sent an email on 24th September with this observation. Hopefully, will now be fully equipped with information as to how to make the best of a frustrating situation.... "Without the Search function, it can be difficult to know in which parishes to look for individual surnames. The suggestion here is a good alternate while Search is not functioning to determine which parishes may be of interest in a search for a given name. The downside is that it delivers you to a single page view, which means there are no navigation aids available. The inteded view is the two frame view with Table of Contents on the left, providing navigation between the various categories of records. It also deliveres you to the top of the page which is probably not where you will see your name of interest. The normal two page view can be restored by clicking on the Rose in the top lefthand corner of the page. This will return you to the home page for that parish, so it will be necessary to follow links to find the menu pages for the registers. Baptisms, Banns, Marriages, Burials Registers and Churches are the links that will guide to these menu pages. The indexes will then allow you to find reference to your name of interest. I hope these suggestions help you to be more successful in your Searches until we get the Search function back online." Regards, Sally
Hello Listers, Here are the latest updates from the Lancashire Online Parish Clerks website: http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/indexw.html 7 October 2009 Marriages 1541 to 1753 from the Parish of Aughton Marriages 1844 to 1900 and Burials 1839 to 1889 from the Parish of Barrowford Baptisms 1886 to 1890 from the Church of St John, Blackpool Baptisms 1804 to 1837 and Burials 1808 to 1837 from the Primitive Methodist Church, Cadishead Baptisms 1850 to 1854 from the church of St George in the Parish of Chorley Marriages 1809 to 1812 and 1889 to 1894 and Burials 1818 and 1840 from the Parish of Church Kirk Baptisms 1873 to 1923 from the Parish of Formby Baptisms 1829 to 1834 from the Church of St Peter, Oldham Baptisms 1877 to 1879 from St Clement, Ordsall Marriages 1863 to 1872 from Holy Trinity in the Parish of Over Darwen Baptisms 1887 to 1895 from the Parish of Prescot Baptisms 1793 to 1840 from Gravel Lane Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, Salford Baptisms 1859 to 1907 and Marriages 1910 to 1929 from the Parish of Waterfoot in the District of Rossendale As the search function is still presenting problems for the OPC website's server, remember you can try via Google. Search for records by simply adding the words Lan-OPC together with the surname you're looking for and place/church name - it can produce surprisingly accurate results. Regards, Sally
