I have been asked by the Lancashire OPC project to pass on the following information about their (most excellent) website: "We are pleased to be able to announce that the Lancashire OPC Search facility is once more available. It has been a frustrating time for us all, but with certain safeguards we have put in place, we are hopeful that the Search function will remain active without interuption, though during the early stages, we cannot guarantee that there will not be some breaks in service. There are a few important changes that have been necessary following a review of the events that led up to the Search becoming unavailable, but apart from these it should look the same as before. These changes have been designed to have neglibable impact on legitimate users, who will be able to perform as many searches as they wish. However, you are required to enter through the normal link to the main search page. Any bookmarks (favourites) you have to internal pages or search results will no longer work. So please delete any old bookmarks relating to the previous version of Lancs OPC search and do not attempt to bookmark anything other than the designated entry point, which you may bookmark for convenience if you wish. To make use of the Search facility, you must have 'cookies enabled' in your browser. Please note that the search facility must not be used by automated (robotic) applications, any attempt to do this will be blocked. The measures we have introduced are designed to protect the availability and performance of our search for everyone, and to prevent unwanted access which may have caused some of the problems we were experiencing. The rest of the Lancs OPC website is completely unaffected by these changes. For those not familiar with our search, it allows you to search the Lancashire OPC database, by parish or across the county, using a flexible selection of names, events and dates. Thank you for your patience while the search has been unavailable, and our apologies for any inconvenience that this has caused. We invite you to start using the Search once again and wish you all happy hunting." And THANK YOU to the workers at the Lancs OPC for all your hard work on behalf of all family history hunters for Lancashire. Regards, Sally

I have ancestors who married in Liverpool - probably in West Derby parish - about 1802. How would I research this? Do I have to visit the Liverpool Records Office and search parish by parish? I do live several undred miles away from the city of my birth, i.e. Liverpool. John

Carolyn, Below is the general address for Cheshire record office, you can submit your query to this address. If you are searching for a Bond and Allegation the couple would have to be getting married by Licence. I was able to submit a marriage date, location and the names of the couple. However I¹m sure that the record office can provide you with some guidance . Hello My great aunt Margaret WATTS b. Ireland ca 1871 was last seen on the 1901 census in Millom. Daughter of Sarah Ann (GREEN) and Elijah WATTS they lived in or around Barrow-in-Furness from ca 1872/3 Some of the family moved to the Liverpool area. Does anyone have a Margaret WATTS in the family who may have married between 1901 - 1911 as she cannot be found on the 1911 census under her maiden name? I am trying to find a marriage for her but there are so many ladies of that name that I could not possibly buy marriage certificates for all of them . I do have quite alot of information about the family but at present I am only looking for a marriage for Margaret WATTS Thank you Magdalen in South Africa No virus found in this outgoing message Checked by PC Tools AntiVirus (6.0.0.19 - 10.004.107). http://www.pctools.com/free-antivirus/
Forgot to add the new pilot site on the LDS some one might have transcribe you parish already so then down load it right at home, Mary http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#start
Hi John First thing I would do at home was go on Hugh Wallis site find which parish that your ancestor is in >I have ancestors who married in Liverpool - probably in West Derby > parish - about 1802. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hughwallis/ click on England then Lancashire there are three select the one you need( I would search everyone) then put in your family surname (it helps if its rare one ) If one comes up it directs you to the LDS site and you can either order a film in at your local LDS Library$7.50 Canadian or send to Salt Lake City for a copy of the register. $2.00 Canadian for copy. so if you have a lot in same area call the film in if not send for document. Thank you very much for the link. -- Arthur In message <CBC4A4B5380B4BC9ACEB6FEC8779C2C1@UzbecksComputer>, Peter Lawton <uzbeck@btinternet.com> writes >Hurst Street was in Old Swan.
