Thanks, Terry. I usually use Genuki to suss out where places are, but obviously you've got good personal knowledge too judging by where you live :o) Either way, I do hope Jo manages to get through her brickwall with Enoch and from whence he sprang.... Am I the only person to think that this subject is 'off topic'. Surely there are plenty of other sites where this kind of thing can be discussed. To my mind this is not what this list is for. Please, let's get back to family history research!! Megan

Hi It was to do with family history that this photo came about. It was whilst searching for family gravestones for a cousin in Australia. So it is still relevant! Hi I did this at Flaybrick Cemetery here in Wirral. Many stones had either been vandalised, not been put up (too poor) or hit during the bombing raid in the 1940's. However, on taking a photograph with my digital of the area I got more than I bargained for in the shape of a swirling mist that showed, on closer look several faces which appeared ghost -like. On giving this photo to a spiritualist fried of my mums confirmed it as a mother and daughter. When showing it to a friend he turned the photo upside down and it revealed what looked like a soldier (Roman?) with spear/sword sheild and helmet with plumage. Hi June, Where abouts are you in WA? I live in WA and have spent quite a deal of time researching Liverpool history through the cemeteries. If you are not aware the Church of Latter Day Saints has sixteen Family History Centres in WA. The web address is listed below. http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/library/FHC/frameset_FHC.asp Each individual family history centre will obtain microfilm copies of Liverpool Burial Regsters for just about every cemetery in Liverpool - the hire cost is very cheap. I used to use the facility through the Warwick centre and it cost me $5.00 per month. The burial records for Walton Park Cemetery from 1856 - 1908 are all on microfilm - I just checked the listings. Go to Google and type in familysearch Under the "LIBRARY" menu go to "LIBRARY CATALOGUE" and do a "PLACE NAME" search "ENGLAND- LANCASHIRE-LIVERPOOL" is the obvious one you want and you will be presented with a total list of all the Liverpool details they hold in their files. Click through the cemeteries listings and you will find "WALTON PARKCEMETERY" You then order the appropriate film via the number they have listed. If you get stuck, please get back to me. Hi Terry This will be an interesting search for Jo with the 1881 v 1891 census entries.... There's a Brentwood in Essex, but no Sapperton. There is a Salperton in Gloucestershire, however. Hi I live in Liverpool and would just like to clarify a couple of things. If a person died in a workhouse, had no relatives, no money and no family plot, then the usual thing was to bury them in a public grave along with maybe five others. There would be no stone or marker, so all you see is grass. I mainly concern myself with Anfield Cemetery and if you look at some of the burial records it is not unusal to see the same plot number against different names, it also says public grave. A lot of people have mentioned to me about the 1000,s of stones that are laying down, some say vandalism, which isn't true. It is for health and safety reasons as the stones are unsafe and could fall over killing someone, hence why they are pushed over, and it is the plot.s owners responsability to sort it out, but, as most are over 100 years old the family has either died out, or moved. Liverpool council are slowly re-erecting them by digging down about 2 foot and putting the stone back vertical.
