Hello to the list.... this is completely off topic. I wondered if someone would be kind enough to help me I am trying to find out how much it costs to pay yourself out of the army. If someone has completed the training and then wishes to leave ??? I am wanting to know how much it costs now, in 2000 or so. This is to re inforce a theory I have. Very many thanks in advance Aileen
I notice that many of my posts do not make it, are they being censored ? Lets see if this one makes it......................> While those people complain about requests for photo's cluttering up the site, lets not forget that many many times I have seen the same requests hashed over and over to the point of being ridiculous and many times these are one on one conversations. Could we all try to be a little less grouchy and enjoy the wealth of information that this location produces without producing any animosity. Dave D.

Hi Jo, I wouldn't have a clue as to where he was buried. The 1891 census has him in Millers Bridge, so I would start with churches closest to that and work your way out. This link to the Bootle page on Genuki shows the churches and what information is held one them - http://www.genuki.org.uk/cgi-bin/churches?CCC=LAN,GR=SJ339947,DIST=3,PLACE=Bootle Best of luck! of where he might have been buried -- that just might have a clue??? > > Again many thanks -- Jo
Hi Listers. I appear to have started something when I asked about the Castle Pub on Breck Road, I want to thank everyone for their answers, you have been lots of help. Audrey Goodier

Will some kind person point me in the direction of where I might find the minutes of the railway board meeting that occurred on 9 March 1829 in Liverpool. At that meeting the decision was made to allow locomotives to be considered along with ropes pulled by stationary engines to pull the carriages. I believe also that it was during this meeting the decision was also made to award the locomotive winner ( eventually Stephenson ) a £500 prize. Did the board or an individual put up the money ??? I really feel sorry for the poor man -- no one seems to know where he was born --or when -- even his marriage cert. has what seem to be different dates for his birth. Did anyone have a birthday party for him???? But back to my orginal question -- any ideas of where he might have been buried -- that just might have a clue??? Again many thanks -- Jo

Hi Audrey, I have had a look on Google Street View - this amazing resource shows you images of the shops/street etc. as if you were travelling along the road. It saves petrol and shoe leather when you want to check an address out. Use 'Google Maps' - search for the road - Breck Road, Liverpool - this results in a map of the area on your computer screen - Hover on the yellow man in the top left hand corner. Then click on him and drag him to Breck Road on the map. Drop him there and you will get the images of the scene on the street. Use the controls in the top left corner to turn, travel and zoom in along the road. Not every area is available online yet but Breck Road is there to view without going out of the house! The shop next door to the George pub is 'Derek's' and is clearly marked 122. So I crossed the road (in cyberspace) and after a bit of searching up and down the road looking for numbers I found . Next Move Estates - I googled to find their address is 121- 125 Breck Road. best regards Kathy -------------------------------------------------- From: "Audrey O'Keefe" <keefe12@blueyonder.co.uk> Sent: Monday, November 16, 2009 3:06 PM To: <eng-liverpool@rootsweb.com> Subject: Re: [ENG-LIV] 123 Breck Road > Thank you Tom - no I haven't seen the site.................. - just > driven > down Breck Road, front of buildings not numbered where I think it is - > 124 is the George Public House - I'll go back in the week and park > up.................. have a wander round................. > Audrey O'Keefe > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "tom mercer" <tjmercer@talktalk.net> > To: <eng-liverpool@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Sunday, November 15, 2009 10:51 PM > Subject: Re: [ENG-LIV] 123 Breck Road > > >> HiAudrey, >> Have you seen this sight, lots of Liverpool street photographs. Audrey, I have found a small picture of the Castle pub, in a book titled, Liverpool "It all came Tumbling down". I have scanned the page, it's not the best of pic's, but if you would like me to send it to you off line, I will do so. Jean.
