    3. HI Cherie, Sorry, I cannot help you further than explaining that this deal is ONLY available if you shop in Tesco and save the 'Clubcard Reward Points'. In exchange for these points Tesco send money off vouchers which can be used to save money on your shopping OR spent on 'deals' such as entertainment, holidays, and software. If you have saved any points it is more economical to use your points to purchase the software than using the points to save money on your shopping. See their website http://www.tesco.com/clubcard/deals/ Kathy -------------------------------------------------- From: "cherie everet" <cherie.everett@btinternet.com> Sent: Thursday, November 19, 2009 8:08 AM To: <eng-liverpool@rootsweb.com> Subject: Re: [ENG-LIV] Genealogy Software and Ancestry - possible savings > Hi Kathy, > Sorry to be a nuisance but can you help please? Family Tree Maker 2010 Platinum has been released recently and can be purchased on Amazon and other sites for about £30. However now Tesco points can be used to purchase software and this software package is available on their site for £15 worth of rewards. You exchange your points for a token and the token can then be exchanged for the software. Included with the software is 6 months free subscription to Ancestry.co.uk. so there is also a saving there if you thought about purchasing a subscription. I think the price of a subscription to Ancestry is about £80 per year. I am aware that free tree software can be downloaded from Familysearch and I am not trying to promote FTM software nor am I connected to any of these sites or Tesco, but I thought that the savings were worth mentioning as some people might 'spend' £15 of reward points off the price of their groceries without being aware of the possible savings they could make. More info about the software can be found on Amazon. Hope this helps someone. 3. Hi List, I wonder if someone on the List with an Ancestry.com subscription could look at an original image in the 1880 US Census for me?In 1869 August Kronke and Margaret Connor married in Liverpool and appear in the 1871 census living in Liverpool [mistranscibed] as Crombe they then disappear from subsequent UK census records.I think I have found them on the 1880 US Census living in Jersey City,New Jersey as August and Margaret Frankie. August was born in Hanover,Germany and Margaret in Wexford, Ireland they appear to be living in the same building as an Irish American family named Corblis a family that I know they had connections with in Liverpool. The transcription gives the following information Precinct4,District 5,Jersey City,Hudson,New Jersey. I would love to find out if I have finally found my elusive Kronke's and if possible know if they went on to have a family in the United States or remained childless.I have tried to find out when they arrived in the US, if indeed it is the same couple but the Castle Garden site appears to be down or has moved as couldn't connect to it to see if there is any record of their arrival between 1871 and 1880. Kindest Regards Margaret Roberts[Wigan]

I always find these helpful. One thing that listers should beware of is the description of Churches in the so called Aigburth district of Liverpool. http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/Liverpool/Aigburth/index.html Most of these are not in Aigburth at all. The Lancs OPC have confused modern post codes, in this case L17, with historical districts. So in the example below, historical records show that St Michael in the Hamlet is in Toxteth Park. Indeed that's still its official name. http://www.achurchnearyou.com/st-michael-in-the-hamlet/ No doubt, when looking for ancestors, many will be confused by the erroneous labelling of these churches Best wishes Paul --- Original Message ----- From: "sally roberts"> Sent: Wednesday, November 18, 2009 8:48 AM Subject: [ENG-LIV] Lancs OPC update - 18 Nov 2009 > > > Good morning Listers, > > This morning's trip to the OPC site found the following databases have > been uploaded: http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/indexw.html > > > 17 November 2009 > > Baptisms 1839 to 1869 from the Church of St Michael-in-the-Hamlet, in the > district of Aigburth, Liverpool > >

This is a great list because people reply to posts.....not just with BMD dates but with history and info' too...and have gone over and above to help others. If sometimes they are a bit off topic, does it matter ?....a lot of us find it of interest...whatever it may be about.......if you don't want to read it....you have seen the subject title....DELETE. It seems "Ghosts" was of interest to a lot of listers......maybe not to all....but that works both ways on all subjects. 3. Derek tried contacting you via your email but no go await reply from you re Flemings in Liverpool ----- Original Message ----- From: "West ML" <westmorml@ntlworld.com> To: "Liverpool Mailing List" <ENG-LIVERPOOL@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, November 14, 2009 3:24 AM Subject: [ENG-LIV] HADEN - FLEMING Marriage Whilst researching my FLEMING ancestors that moved down to Liverpool from Westmorland, I came across this unusual Marriage Notice in the Liverpool Mercury of Saturday November 1, 1862 - HADEN-FLEMING. October 1, at the British Consulate, Port-Au-Prince Haytu, Thomas Haden, Esq., of Gonaives, eldest son of the late Richard Wright Haden, Esq., of Derby, to Fanny Fleming, youngest daughter of Thomas Fleming, Esq., of this town. Fanny was christened FRANCES ISABELLA FLEMING at St Peter, Liverpool on 29 January 1835 - the youngest of 8 children born to Thomas Fleming & Frances (nee Pearce); her father being the son of Leonard Fleming and Mary (nee Coward) - both of whom came from Westmorland. I have Fanny of the 1841 census with her family at Halewood Lane, Much Woolton but had not been able to locate her again until I found this marriage. I am intrigued as to how/why she went out to Haiti. Are there any passenger lists for such a voyage from Liverpool, that might help me locate when she went to Haiti ? If anyone else has Fleming interests in Liverpool, then I would be pleased to hear from them.
