    3. Hello Sandra    I have a copy of the marriage certificate from the GRO for Robert Henry Stout and Doris Buckley  issued  5th august 1944, marriage was solemnized at the parish church in the parish of St. Helens. My mother was a witness and the bride and grooms parents match up so i know i have the right couple.   but was never able to find the index on freebmd..,  I was told the divorce came final in either 1950 or 1951. and there are an awful lot of Doris Buckley's marriages assuming she reverted to her maiden name.   Another piece of information was my older sister joined the army in Aldershot, she was born in 1951 so she would have been at least 18 to join, that would have put her there about 1969 . our mum asked her to look up aunt doris who was supposed to be living in a place called Sheerwater or Clearwater Estates in or near Guilford, Surrey, when she went their she couldn't find the place. So there's my dead end.   Could this help?   Thanks Eileen

    3. Hello List, I have been searching for my Aunt Doris Buckley born:  September 2nd 1925 in  Prescot, England (St. Helens) Parents: Arnold Buckley and Annie Edmondson ___________________________________________________ Doris was married    August 5, 1944 at age 18 years 11 months First husband Robert Henry Stout  - Divorced in the late 1940's early 50's 1 child with this first marriage ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~   I am told Doris remarried, but have no idea who she married. I was also told she had a couple of young children with her when she visited us in early 1960's in Liverpool.   I have just been told by my sister that she has found  two photos of our Aunt Doris Buckley.  There are no dates on the photos,  in each photo she is holding a baby, two different babies.   On one photo it says Aunt Doris mums sister and baby Janet.   and the other says aunt Doris and Ann age 3 months taken in our garden  " doesn't she make for  when Ann was so tiny at birth".   With this limited information can anyone suggest how I could search for my aunt and her children.   Many thanks Eileen

    1. [ENG-LIV] IS IT REALLY AN APOLOGY FOR THE BRITISH HOME CHILDREN
    2. J. Williams
    3. Is it really an apology from Jenny Macklin and her Australian political cronies for the stolen children or is it just a coincidence that there is an election coming up in the not too distant future and they may just be trying to score points. The Oz government has already apologised to the Aboriginal Stolen Generation. Now the British Stolen Generation and the Australian Stolen Generation. Who next? Maybe I could seek an apology from the French Pollies for the maiming and killing that William the Norman/Bastard/Conqueror inflicted on my earlier generations back in 1066! Cynical John in Oz

    3. Hello everyone, I am needing help finding the deaths of several Appletons. The on-line Lancashire Indexes are great but havn't been a help to me. 1)William Appleton b.15 Oct.1802 Norfolk St,Liverpool.Father- William,Mother-Ellen Vearing,he died between 1851-1861. 2)Homer Appleton b.24 Oct 1824 New Bird St,Liverpool,Father-William,Mother-Johanna Darbyshire, believed died in childhood. 3)George Homer bapt.19Oct.1835 St.Peters.Father-William,Mother-Johanna,also believed died in childhood. I have the death of Johanna Appleton 26Mar.1867 Overbury St,West Derby but havn't found her burial.I thought that might help me find the others. In the 1861 census she was a widow living in Toxteth Park in the ecclesiastical parish of St.Thomas. Would appreciate any help you can offer me,Judith _________________________________________________________________ Looking for a date? 3. G'day Emily, "Tracing Your Ancestors in the Public Record Office (HMSO 1990) states "Before 1927 there was no system of legal adoption and it is usually extremely difficult to trace private arrangements. Some charities, such as Barnardos, arranged adoptions, and may conduct a search for a fee. See the book by G. Stafford, 'Where to Find Adoption Records' ". Hope this helps David Armstrong Maylands, Western Australia ----- Original Message ----- From: Emily To: eng-liverpool@rootsweb.com Sent: Friday, November 20, 2009 8:59 AM Subject: [ENG-LIV] Adoptions Emily I am trying to trace an adoption between 1894-1901, of Joseph Worthington b1890. 3. Hi David, Thank you for your input and concern. I tried PAF, admittedly about twelve years ago but did not get on with it particularly well; I was given FTM as a present and took to it straight away managing to make charts etc. with relative ease. I have upgraded a couple of times since then and hope that the latest version is as simple to load and use. Thanks again for your thoughtfulness. Cherie

    3. Cherrie, As cost is a serious issue for you, have you considered downloading PAF from < www.familysearch.org > PAF is an excellent Family History Programme and it's totally free.
