    3. G'day Mike, The best place to ask your question is by using the feedback link on the LDS site and asking the LDS themselves. The site is a work in progress which is why it's called a "pilot" site. I've previously noticed that a database has been removed for a period and then re-loaded for technical reasons (It was the Michigan marriages which had a problem in that only the left hand side page of the register was being loaded). In the case of these Cheshire records, I would imagine it's a catalogue description change, so remove them under the old link and re-add them with a link having a new description. You'll note that the "English, Cheshire Parish Registers 1538-200" database is listed as only being 95% complete, so there's more to come for this database. 3. G'day everyone, The link to the LDS pilot site is on the home page of the LDS Family Search site < www.familysearch.org > On the "Search Records" tab, there is a link "Record Search pilot" which opens up a new window. It's worthwhile checking this out at least once a fortnight as the LDS are constantly adding new databases. One such in early December was the Index to Bounty Immigrants to New South Wales 1828 to 1842. This index gives place of origin details in the United Kingdom for people who migrated to NSW under this scheme. (I had a reply on another list by a lady who had been searching for years and found her family in this database). 1. Re: [ENG-LIV] Update for Cheshire on LDS Record Search Pilot Site
    2. David Armstrong
    3. G'day Dave, I don't have any research in Cheshire, and you don't give a link for "The Cheshire Project", so I can't comment on the differences between the information on The Cheshire Project and what's on the LDS Pilot site. However, the first thing you should do is read the descriptions of the databases and compare them. Are they using data from the same source? The LDS Pilot site will give you a microfilm number which in turn will give you a description of from where they're getting the information. (And you can order these microfilms into your local LDS Library at a nominal fee to cover postage and packing to read for yourself). Currently, all the new filming by the LDS is being done digitally with a view to put it on their site. Their indexing technique is for each record to be extracted and typed up TWICE by different people. These two transcriptions are then electronically compared and any discrepancies adjudicated by a third independent person. I should add that they're asking for volunteers to help them with their indexing. You can do this from the comfort of your own home as you download software which provides you with a split screen. A digital photograph is shown in the top half of your screen and you type the relevant data into a form in the bottom half of the screen.
