    3. Nora, A suggestion - why not join the India equivalent of this Liverpool list. It can be found at: http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/intl/IND/INDIA.html David -----Original Message----- From: David Railton [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 08 September 2012 08:35 To: '[email protected]' Subject: RE: [ENG-LIV] Born in India Nora, The web address I gave: http://www.new.fibis.org/ provides lots of detail about how to find records of Europeans in India pre independence. It also includes some details of baptisms, marriages and burials and other records. I suggest you use it as a guide to finding information. All Christian churches in British India of every denomination were obliged to send copies of their records to London. These are now in the India Office Library in the British Library in London. They are not complete - possibly about 75% of the originals are there. There are a few churches in India that still have their registers but those that exist are usually in poor condition. Most have been destroyed by the climate or termites. There is very little in India that is not in the British Library. Writing to churches in India for information rarely produces a reply. Those that do reply usually only want a small fee for information but getting money to India is not an easy process. The Mormon church has microfilmed all the India records in the British Library and these microfilms are available for all to view at their family history centres. There will be one near you. The process of viewing is not easy and is time consuming but it can be done. FindMyPast are supposedly copying all the British Library India records and they should be available on their site later this year. The website I gave will tell you about other sources that have part of the British Library collection. There is more information currently available on-line for the 18th and 19th centuries than the 20th so you may not be able to find what you are looking for. 3. Hi Vern, You could look on http://www.british-history.ac.uk/mapsheet.aspx?compid=55207&sheetid=10190 On the other hand, Edge Hill Place may be a terrace of houses in another road, so it may not appear on a map. If so, you might need to find its location by finding the streets near it . The Liverpool street index on http://www.liverpool-genealogy.org.uk/Streets1851/StreetsE.htm might help with this. You could look at the streets in the same enumeration district & page to get some idea. 3. Hi Everyone I'm sure that I posed this same question a few years ago, but I thought it might be worth another try. My grandfather, John William PRESCOTT, was born 19 June 1877 at 3 Edge Hill Place, West Derby. His brother James, was also born there on 27 June 1875. I have been trying to find the location of Edge Hill Place without success. I have been able to find the street on two census years, but that has not helped me to pin down its location. I have also looked in Gore's Directories for years around 1876, but it did not appear. Can anyone tell me where this street is located? Vern in Ontario, Canada

My sister was born 1958 Broadreen Hospital Liverpool, as my Mum was leaving the hospital with her, she was able to register my sisters birth at the lodge of the hospital. There was an Oxford Street Maternity Hospital Liverpool [do a Google] I don't know if they had the same procedure there in 1953 for registering a birth. My first son was born 1976, not able to register his birth at the hospital. Regards. The foundation stone was laid on 22nd February 1827 and the church was consecrated on the 15th March 1829. The original building was demolished in 1969 due to wet rot and a modern church was built in its place. There is a large graveyard attached to the church and members of the Lancashire Family History & Heraldry Society (Blackburn Branch) transcribed the monumental inscriptions (MIs) and these were published on microfiche (D8) in 1997. 3. G'day Emily Indexed digital images of the non-conformist BDM registers are on the BDM Registers website < http://www.bmdregisters.co.uk/ > It's a pay per view site for which you buy credits. However, the LDS has an institutional subscription to The Genealogist < http://www.thegenealogist.co.uk/ > which incorporates the bmdregisters website. This means that if visit an LDS Family History Library and you can view them for free.
