Interesting. In my parish in Canada, the parson there wanted to get rid of the regimental banners etc. which he described as war paraphernalia. He was a forty-something German national and German Social Democrat voter. I said to him, despite the fact that I was otherwise friendly with him, that if he touched them I would go to the papers at once to tell them that a German was trying to purge our World War I Veterans memory from the church. He never carried out his objective. So, as you see, there are those about who take it upon themselves to discard what we consider sacrosanct for reasons that we could not normally imagine would ever be taken seriously.
