John DAVY’s children b. 1772 – 1785 at Ulceby by Barton, had a mother Dinah. The only likely marriage I could find was to Dinah SARGEANT on 1 Dec. 1768 at Ulceby, by Licence. This was from the BTs as the PR is not available 1754 – 1812. I could not find the Licence in the Indexes of Bonds and Licences at the Archives. Dinah SARGEANT likely to be the one bapt. 19 Mar. 1740 at Melton Ross, dau. of John SARGEANT. All the above found some years ago. In my Spring cleaning of files I now find from FMP that Dinah SARGEANT married Joseph GREEN in 1761 at Melton Ross, by Banns. Witnesses:- John SARGEANT, George Walkden. So who was the Dinah SARGEANT who married John DAVY? Bob.

If you had purchased our Marriage Index (Part 5) you would have discovered quickly that Dinah Sargeant married John Davie at Ulceby near Brocklesby on the 1 December 1768. Our indexes cover both the parish registers and BTs. This one is from the BTs as noted in the marriage index, and was by licence. The marriage does not appear in the index to Marriage Bonds and Allegations which covers the years 1628 to 1837 and includes all marriage bonds at Lincolnshire Archives, therefore it seems not to have survived.
