Hi Peter, Linda, and other missing Lincs, I am descended from Mary Vandebeck who was descended from Dutch immigrants who were brought out by the Earl of Bedford during the reign of K Charles I to drain the fens in Lincolnshire. There is quite a bit of this story online. Unfortunately, many of the local residents resented their arrival and burned their churches. Many moved out of Lincolnshire and settled near established Huguenots who had arrived the previous century so they could worship with them in their churches which had already been accepted within the community. I would presume that the HOOTON family were descended from the Dutch VAN HOUTON and that they were part of this migration. There is a part of Lincolnshire referred to as Holland.
