William Lanes Fletcher was born Twenty-fifth August 1849 in Donnington on Baine, first-born child of William Dawson FLETCHER and Jane Stubley/Stubelday/other varied spellings. He married Sarah Dean in 1973. In 1881 they are in Kirkby Cum Osgodby along with their first two children, William G. and Walter. (A third son, Fred, was born 1882.) In 1891 Sarah, William G. and Fred are in Kirby Cum Osgoodby, but William Lanes is not. In 1901 William Lanes Fletcher and Sara are together. In 1881 he was listed as "machine man" and family legend has that the family tended to own/run farming machines that would hired by farmers according to the time of year, so there may be a good reason for William Lanes Fletcher to be away from home.
