Here is the information I received off list; forwarded with their permission. This baby was definitely born 2 years before the parents were married, but the entry in the Baptism register implies they were married! It says : Robert, with parents Thomas Andrew & Charlotte, surname Brumpton, labourer, of Whitepit. So it does look as though Charlotte was the mother and they implied they were married at the time. We think it most likely that the baby died, and the burial not recorded. As you know, Alan Sabey follows all Brumpton descendants, and we helped him with this for many years. In fact he continues to update his Brumpton tree, and we continue to help and exchange information. He has asked us to reply to your message.. Unfortunately, the only evidence for the existence of Robert, son of Thomas Brumpton seems to be his baptism in Swaby, 12 July 1870. It is a long time since we saw this record. It could be looked up again sometime at Lincoln Archives to see what exactly it says, and it may not record a birthdate (The Swaby baptism register is not on-line at Lincstothepast, though the burial register is for that period). As you say, there is no sign of him in 1871 or any of the other censuses. There also does not seem to be a birth registration (The Robert Brumpton born Sep Qr 1870 Louth Reg Dist was a different one, see below) Thomas Andrew Brumpton married Charlotte Sizer, 4 Jan 1872 at Driby, and continued to live in the Calceby/Whitepit/Swaby area. The most likely possibilities for Robert are : 1 He died and was missed off the burial register, or 2 He was "adopted" and brought up, possibly by relatives of his mother, and under some other surname. As regards marriages and deaths for Robert Brumptons of a similar age, we have a lot of information, (some is from certificates) a. Robert BRUMPTON, b 15 Jul 1870, Donington on Bain, son of Charles, married 4 Mar 1901, Bourne Chapel, Hull to Mary Ann BARR, and died 20 Mar 1946, Bridlington b. Robert BRUMPTON, b 11 Sep 1873, Rotherham, Yorks, married 1901 and 1913 Rotherham and died 6 Jan 1947, Rotherham c. Robert Brumpton, b 1874 Horncastle, died 4 Jan 1908, Boston d. Robert BRUMPTON, b 30 Aug 1865, Sedgefield, Co Durham, married 1891 Co Durham, and died 9 Nov 1932, Australia If there are any other marriages or deaths you would like us to identify, just let us know.. So sorry we cannot be of any more help All Best Wishes Judy & Harvey ----- Original Message ----- From: FIONA POULTON To: gyfh@googlegroups.com Sent: Thursday, January 19, 2012 8:31 AM Subject: [gyfh] Fwd: [LIN] Death Record Query Hi Judy Do yo know this ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: FIONA POULTON Date: Thursday, 19 January 2012 Subject: [LIN] Death Record Query To: "eng-lincsgen@rootsweb.com" <eng-lincsgen@rootsweb.com> Although I have brumptons in my tree, they are much earlier, but I will pass this on to someone who may know Regards Fiona On Thursday, 19 January 2012, John & Jan Marchant <jjmarchant@optusnet.com.au> wrote: > Hi Everyone > > My ggrandfather, Thomas BRUMPTON, had a son prior to his marriage in 1872.
