Hi Peter, I have the Index for Parish Register Burials for the Yarborough Deanery which included Messingham and checked for you. There were 3 Alice's burials, one was an infant in 1860 and the other 2 burials(only one in Messingham) were for 73 year old women. So I don't think any of them were the correct ones.I did see Thomas died in 1877 and Hannah is on the 1881 census as a widow.I also checked on the FreeBMD, as you probably did, but couldn't find any marriage or burial for Alice there either. I checked the burials for Messingham on Freereg, there were no burials in Messingham for Alice, Thomas her father was buried in Jan 1877 aged 39 and her mother Hannah in 1882 aged 48. It might be worth looking at her aunts and uncles, here sister Mary Ann married George Emmerson and in 1891 her brother Frank is with her recorded as Frank STEN (I have corrected this on ancestry). I would look at her uncles and aunts to see if she appears with them. Her mother's maiden name was Allison and she had a sister Ann who didn't marry and a brother William who was 7 years younger than her. Her father's sister Alice Stow married James Ellsome and they also had an alice born the same year in Messingham, but your Alice did not appear with them. However the witness at the wedding of Mary Ann and George Emmerson is recorded as Alice Mary with no surname, could this be your Alice? regards Elaine Westaway ________________________________ From: Debbie Shearwood <shearg53@hotmail.com> To: eng-lincsgen@rootsweb.com Sent: Monday, 23 January 2012, 16:46 Subject: Re: [LIN] Alice Stow - Messingham Hi Peter, I have the Index for Parish Register Burials for the Yarborough Deanery which included Messingham and checked for you.
