G'day & happy new year form Western Australia, I have found the above in the 1841, 51 & 61 census pages at Welton Le Marsh & in "51 John shows his birthplace as "Salmonby" yet in '61 it looks like "Ashby" & is recorded on Ancestry as such. Research so far shows the distance between these places as being about 30 miles which is a bit too far for someone in later stages of life to be wrong about birth places I would think. Was/is there somewhere closer to Salmonby called Ashby? Regarding Alice, whose date of birth appears to be 1779/80 - shown in '41 as "Alis" - she was born in Hundleby according to the 2 latter census pages but is there any way of tracing their marriage which could give me her maiden name (& possibly John's birthplace)? They seem to have had 4 children - Samuel, b 1804, John b 1807 Mary b 1808 then Francis b 1823 who appears in '51 as a 28 y/o son born in Winceby & working as a cordwainer. FreeREG has a marriage of a John Davison and an Alice Dickison at West Keal on 24 Nov 1800. This may or may not be your John and Alice.
