    3. Minus Charles, the family is still in Osbournby in 1871. RG10/3353 folio 78 page 19 Charles, listed as grandson, is also still in Osbournby RG10/3353 folio 72 page 8 with grandparents Thomas and Ann Handley on the previous page. If you're using FMP and searching using birthplaces in the 1871 then you will get a nil return. For some reason the birthplaces search in 1871 uses only counties, not places. One tip is if someone is missing in say 1871, as in this case, is to try and find them in the following census (in this case 1881). If you can find them in the next census then chances are they didn't emigrate - though some do and come back <g>. Check for any children born in the 'missing' years and their birthplaces.
