Hello again from NZ This would probably be easy if I were a millionaire to buy all the registrations of missing twigs on my wife's family tree!! I'm not!! I have found Frederick William ROYCE in every census after his birth in 1864, what I want to know is "Who are his parents?". According to the 1871 census he was born in Sewstern, Leics but was living as a grandson with John & Mary ROYCE in the White Horse Inn, High St., Colsterworth, Lincs. In 1881 he was a groom for the HEAVENS in the High St., Colsterworth; thereafter in the police in Middlesex. Thanks Mike
1. I'm not sure how my "Admin. Note" got to be part of the subject line, but I request that we not misuse the term. 2. As for the cost of this hobby, when the wealth is redistributed we will all get out 2 pennith worth and it will still not be enough. 3. Sewstern is one of those places where your front doorway may be in Leicestershire, but if you go out the back door, you'll be in Lincolnshire. Take a peek at the records for Gunby parish when you have time. Hello again Michael, Checking out John & Mary's children from earlier censuses there was a John son age 15 in 1851 bn Sewston. John is 33 living with wife Sarah ( age 24 bn Hoyland Yks) in 1871 and a Police Constable. However, if Frederick Wm. "is" John's son Sarah would likely have been too young to have had a child in 1864. In fact the only marriage for this couple that is relevant is: Marriages Mar 1868 (>99%) ROYCE John Keighley 9a237 Trout Sarah Keighley 9a237 This ties in with ages of children in 1871 SO I wonder if indeed Frederick Wm. "could" be an illegitimate son of one of John & Mary's daughters- (Mary age 12 & Ann who is age 10 in 1851, neither of who are living at home in 1871) Speculation of course. Births Sep 1863 (>99%) ROYCE Frederick William Melton M 7a227 Good hunting Margaret ( Toronto) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Michael Wells" <casofilia@xtra.co.nz> To: <eng-lincsgen@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, January 03, 2012 5:51 PM Subject: Re: [LIN] Admin. note: Yet another ROYCE Hello again from NZ This would probably be easy if I were a millionaire to buy all the registrations of missing twigs on my wife's family tree!!
