Hi, Charles, Well, you've got one big problem and that is that many records in the UK are protected by a "100 year" closure regulation to protect people's privacy. Many professional genealogists sign a document when they join a professional group that certifies that they will not look up possibly living people. I know if you revealed such information in the US, we'd all be waiting for the lawyers to sharpen their knives and to open up their wallets waiting for the money to flow in. Now, that's not to say it's impossible. I'm amazed at all the "private" information that appears on the Web. And there are those who flaunt such regulations. Problem is, they can get the list shut down if they are blatant enough to post via the list. Our hosts don't want any legal problems. So the best I can tell you is, Good luck. And please understand if we can't help you. PANTON Hi Listers, Visiting the LINCSGEN List to ask for advice. I have been trying to track down the daughter of one Thomas Allen GLENN and Meenie Mary TOTHILL. The couple had two children and Jessie K. was there second daughter. I found a record of a marriage overseas of a Jessie K. GLENN to a John W.H. PEART and a few years later, in 1958, a marriage of a Jessie K. PEART to one Roy PANTON. Roy would seem to have lived in Lincolnshire and may have lived recently in Grimsby. There seems to be an electoral reference to a Roy and Jessie K. PANTON in 2002. I found that a Roy PANTON was born in 1936 and I knew that Jessie K. GLENN was born in 1919. This may be guesswork and I may have the wrong people. But it would be nice to clear this up one way or the other. Negative answers are not always bad! Any help or suggestions would be gratefully accepted. Hi Lou, Thanks for the advice and will gratefully take it. What I didn't want to do is to write a piece on the possible father of Jessie K. PANTON which shows that he was leading two lives at the same time. He claimed to be married to a British woman on the 1911 UK Census while he was also married an American woman on the 1910 US Census. I felt if I could find Jessie and see if the family knew about this situation then I wouldn't be causing a problem for the family. There is nothing in this for me. Basically an article came on on the subject and I was researching the same subject from a different angle. While the article didn't know, or chose to ignore, I found out by accident the dual life of a particular person. From your suggestion I think I will leave it at that and let the editor of the particular journal decide on whether to comment or not. May I add the family were not originally from Lincolnshire but Cheshire and the USA but living in North Wales - the journal is centred in Wales too. Also, of course, my research is guesswork and the route taken may well be inaccurate. Thanks again and I think I won't ask any further questions.
