I am searching for the birthplace of my great/great/great/grandfather Henry Maydwell (Medwell - or Meadwell) who was born possibly in Easton Lincs abt 1810/12 he married Elizabeth Pilkington in Careby Lincs in 1832. I have been looking for his birth and therefore his parents so that I can go back on this line, and wonder if anyone can help me please. He then went on to live in Clipsham Rutland and remained there for the rest of his life working as a stone mason, quarrey manager and then quarry owner. Thank you in anticipation Angela Verity

Angela This is likely to be Easton-on-the Hill, Northamptonshire, which is a couple of miles to the south of Stamford, Lincs.  Stamford was then on the border of both Rutland and Northamptonshire, less than 10 miles south of Careby, and Clipsham is just off the Great North Road, a few miles to the west of Careby and a few miles to the north of Stamford.  If you contact me off list, I can give you a few MEADWELL marriages in Easton which may help you trace Henry's parents.
