Good evening listers, I am seeking a coroner's report on John BURTON who died 24 Nov. 1874, a Farm Laborer, age 66. Cause of death, per coroner, recorded on his certificate as Natural Causes and rupture of a blood vessel. I am trying to confirm that this is my 2xGt.G.Father, but I find two John Burton "possibles". His wife was Diana Fendyke BURTON whose name I hope is mentioned in the report. Regarding my FENDYKE family, I note several of this name, plus vaiants recorded in St. Botolph's Church indexes on FreeReg. 1809 and earlier Are these records available to view online, or a cd available for purchase ? Any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated. Madeline in sunny California. Please send rain.
I see from the Burials Index Vol 5 CD that John died in Boston. No coroners records for Boston have survived but there may be a newspaper report. There should be a local Boston newspaper by 1874. The library at Boston may be willing to look up details for you as you know the date of death. Hi Madeline I live in Boston and will go to the library for you. A friend of mine is descended from the Fendykes and I will send off list details of the family which I have abstracted for him. Madeline - as you have the death certificate could you tell us where John BURTON died. This may be helpful in tracking down a newspaper report. Actual Coroner's reports were not usually retained and a newspaper report is going to be the most likely source for any further information. For Parish Registers check out the Lincstothepast website www.lincstothepast.com/ Terry M Wells -----Original Message----- From: Madeline V.
