I am working on the will of Catherine Johnson of Beckingham, Lincolnshire, dated 1737 and sworn 1739 and I would be very happy to share my interim conclusions. I know Catherine married to Robert JOHNSON and they had eight children in the period 1688 - 1716. I am looking for: 1. The marriage of Catherine to Robert JOHNSON (baptised Beckingham 1664) about 1688. 2. The baptisms of sons John and Richard, and daughter Catherine JOHNSON (in the period 1688 - 1720) at Beckingham ( I have the others). Other surnames in the will include: LAMB, BAKER, WADESON and SMITH. Any help/suggestions would be very much appreciated. Clive Boyce
Hello Clive Have you tried Lincs to the Past? I found Richard, sone of Richard Johnson by Catharine bptsd March 1689 - Image 39, and Catherine, daughter of Richard Johnson & Catharine bptsd Jan 1709 - Image 43. The writing is difficult to read in some places but you may find your John's baptism somewhere in the 73 images! I can see from the mailing list administration page that it is time for some reminders. 1. You can ONLY post to the list from your subscribed e-mail address. If your mail is being forwarded, then you can't participate in list discussions. 2. All Rootsweb/Ancestry e-mail to lists needs to be in "plain text" mode. If you don't know what that is, look it up in your "Help" menu. Setting it will be slightly different in each desktop e-mail software or web mail software. 3. If you collect lots of e-mail on your web-based account, clean it out periodically. No one can reach you if your allocated disk storage is full. Today would be a good day to do some cleanup. 4. I can't find your subscription by name. We don't keep the names on the subscriber list, only the e-mail addresses. 5. Sorry, no attachments are allowed when posting to the list. We love short messages -- they download so much faster. 6. Reread your message before you hit send. Does it say what you meant? No one on the list will laugh at your English usage, but if you leave out a verb or two... 7. Don't copy the whole Digest back to the list (actually, the system is setup to prevent that most of the time), but do quote that to which you are responding. That we we can easily understand the context. 8. Just because we are all good people and kind souls, we cannot help you with research outside of Lincolnshire. There's a mailing list for just about everywhere (except for alien abductees - it takes too long to reach the mothership). 9. Better to ask and be told "can't help you", than to sit at home and wonder. Lou (list admin.)
