The claim was highlighted on tonights Look North and Nick Barratt was interviewed who agreed with others that this Wilkinson line hailed from Durham originally through her 8x Great Grandfather Laurence Wilkinson who was born in Durham in 1620. Now that does not mean to say that there is not any link with the families that married into the Wilkinsons. The two trees that can be found from a Google search show a BETTS & a LACEY. Both are names found in Lincolnshire but from other available trees on ancestry it would seem that neither of these have Lincolnshire connections. One can only conclude that Meryl Streep was thinking of the Pilgrim Fathers and had picked up on the Boston connection and assumed incorrectly that her Wilkinson's were one of them. If this claim is followed up in the US and a Lincolnshire link is found can someone tell us please John R G Bland Spalding Member of the Lincolnshire Family History Society www.lincolnshirefhs.org.uk/ Reg.
