    3. Thank you Maria for this info. Yes it was in Grimsby that I came accross this occupation. 1. [LIN] Advice to Newbies

    3. It's OK to be new at this hobby and to ask "basic" questions.  There are a lot of helpful people on this mailing list and others.  You've probably noticed that this is not as easy a hobby as you might have thought.  There is no one place to get your whole family tree complete in a day unless one of your close relatives has already done the work. But please don't expect us to do all your work for you.  We are all volunteers and have others chores and responsibilities.  We love to help, but it has to be in small doses.  We're all looking for ancestors, too. So when you need help, be specific.  It helps if you ask for data about a single person in a unique place at a certain time.  Like: John Q. SMITH in Snitterby in 1865, rather than "all the SMITHs from Snitterby." And, "please" and "thank you" are still worth their weight in gold.  If you really are starting out, why don't you see if there is a "one-name study" for the surnames you seek.  That might save you a lot of time. Welcome to our hobby.  We hope you have fun and find some interesting people along the way.     Lou (list admin.)

    3. I believe husbands family had their own Mill, they lived in an area called Borrill's yard, which I believe was off Victoria Road close to the River Freshney and their mill was in this locality. The family were previously corn millers.
