    3. Hi Victor It was the resource file viewer you needed to install to use the 1881 and other CDs from the LDS There are some advantages to using the CDs , using the Viewer version 4 the search can be more specific than other sites allow (although Ancestry is as good) You can also search for neighbours one after the other on the CDs, easier than you can by paging images One other major consideration is that the 1881 CD set came with two for Scotland, if you had people there it was extremely useful as the LDS did not have access to the Scots 1881 But as you say the CDs are as good as redundant these days if you have subscriptions to Ancestry or other sites, although what a move forward they were when they were released I have used the CDs on my XP system but don't know if they work under W7, perhaps in XP mode in certain W7 releases Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) >I too bought those discs all those years ago. 3. Hi, Missing Lincs,     This is the month we post information about a Lincolnshire "character" we have known.  Be kind.  This could be the elderly woman who knew the juciest gossip about all her neighbors.  Or the eccentric gentleman who dresses up in a military uniform for Remembrance Day (but may never have been in the service).  Or anyone you like.  One per person, please.     Let's remember that some of these people may have living relatives (or still be living, themselves).     Thank you.           Lou (list admin.)
