Hello Listers, Please can SKS help or advise me? I am trying to find the birth and parents of my 6xg grandfather, Nicholas SIMPSON who was a Grazier and may possibly have been born in the 1670’s and died (burial) 6.7.1722. I believe the BT’s for Thorpe St Peter are in a poor shape for this period. What I do know about Nicholas is:- 1. First marriage to Elizabeth ?? 6.6.1694 and they had 3 children (names and dates known). I do not know what happened to Elizabeth. 2. Second marriage to Mary STAMP 1.5.1703 they had 8 children, again names and dates known. 3. I also have Nicholas’s will, (dated July 1721) in which his kinsman William SIMPSON is mentioned. The will is witnessed, amongst others, by a Thomasin SIMPSON. It is my belief that this is the wife of the above William SIMPSON as I have found on the I.G.I two children born in Croft and two born in Thorpe St Peter to a William and Thomasin SIMPSON. These children together with Nicholas”s children are all born within a similar time span. Of course William could be a cousin or uncle but because of the children’s dates of birth I think they are more likely to be brothers. Can anyone suggest a way I can work around this information, perhaps using William as a possible sibling, to get back to Nicholas’s birth and parents names. It is also possible he had brothers John and Edward but I am unable to supply proof. I know there are SIMPSON's in Thorpe St Peter all through the 1600’s and it is driving me nuts being almost sure they are all mine but because I can’t sort out Nicholas and his parents I am unable to confirm them and add them to my tree!! I don't think there was a large population in Thorpe St Peter at this time, therefor I would put money on the fact that all the SIMPSON’s were related in some way.
