    3. Hi Lou, Aslackby (pronounced Azelby) does indeed have a burial ground separate to the old site around the church. I have a son who lives there - and at the time that names on memorials were being researched, I visited the new graveyard (just off the A15 at the entrance to the village) to photograph a memorial to airmen who were on a nearby airfield during WW2. That image was submitted, so someone will have it copied online somewhere. Aslackby village hall had at that time some art work (can't remember whether it was water colour or pastels by an airman (United States Army Airforce) showing paratroopers jumping out of Dakota or Curtis bombers. The airfield (known as Folkingham Airfield - and I would rather not go into how that is pronounced) is still there, by Temple Wood, and is used by a local farmer/land owner to store (and probably sell) all sorts of vehicles and machinery. I walked out of the wood one day and was amazed to be confronted by a row of tanks! After the war the airfield runways were used by BRM to test their racing cars. There are occasionally meetings held for the cars and the area resounds to the sound of these vintage engines. See the Wiki article on RAF Folkingham/USAAF Station AAF-484 to get pictures of the aircraft. There is an inscription scratched onto a gate post at the old entrance to the airfield. I will get a copy of it sometime and post it to you - made me smile. Regards, Rex
