Hoping to see some listers on Thursday, Friday or Saturday at Olympia! The Lincolnshire FHS will be there for all three days this year. There are a couple of new publications: No CDs this time I'm afraid. Louth Union Workhouse Minutes Part 1 1837-1845 Gainsborough Union Workhouse Minutes Part 5 1893-1898 A transcript of all entries that mention paupers by name including a map of the Poor Law Union, glossary of terms, extracts from some Acts of Parliament affecting paupers, and a surname index. The extracts mention paupers receiving relief both in the workhouse and outside, including asylums, and may give details of settlement and removal, medical relief, apprenticeship, bastardy cases, emigration, lunatics and maintenance payments made by paupers' relatives. These are available from www.genfair.co.uk (either book or download at a reduced price) from www.parishchest.com or you could pick up a copy at Olympia with no postage costs.
