Hi Pam The Ancestry version of freebmd is the version as it stood in 2006 The Charles HOLMES presumed transcription error may have been entered after that as it differs from the freebmd correct entry or freebmd's entry has been corrected since Ancestry have long had a problem with the pre 1916 part of their GRO indexes, your example may not be part of this particular problem but its worth knowing anyway Where an entry is found in the Ancestry version of the freebmd index (1837 to 1915) you will find some hits have *no* image icon The reason being they are attributed to the wrong year For example On Ancestry England & Wales, FreeBMD Birth Index, 1837-1915 about Albert Edward Ovington Name: Albert Edward Ovington Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1915 Registration district: Guisborough Inferred County: Yorkshire North Riding Volume: 9d Page: 486 (no image linked, it states image not available) Freebmd returns just one birth for an Albert Edward OVINGTON Births Mar 1901 Ovington Albert Edward Guisbro' 9d 486 I have reported it several times but nothing has been done about it to date The moral of the story being to check freebmd first Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 22/02/2014 09:33, Pam Downes wrote: > I've already told you how Ancestry record it.
