I cannot find this man in 1861 - everything else I know about him, he marries in Great Grimsby to Elizabeth GOOSEMAN in 1865 - but where is he hiding in 1861? In 1851 he is a servant on a Farm in Hillingdon, Norfolk but haven't found a trace in 1861? Maybe an earlier marriage - was getting married at age 32 usual? As usual any suggestions gratefully received. Regards Jan Sent from Windows Mail
I did not find an obvious hit for your missing man in 1861 There are many reasons he could have been missed off or may be there but mistranscribed If you have the 1865 marriage it will show if he was a bachelor or widower, in the main most people told the truth on that score He appears to have used John B or John Burkett and married in 1865 as that so if he married earlier I would have expected him to use his full name but I did not find one for that His 1865 marriage is in the papers Stamford Mercury May 19 1865 At Grimsby on the 11th inst Mr John B GOODSON of Middle Rasen to Miss Eliz GOOSEMSN of Grimsby As is a mention in 1888 Nov 9th Stamford Mercury market Rasen Property Sale Offered by auction at the White Hart Hotel, Grange Farm formerly in the occupation of Robt MILLER but more recently in that of Mr John B GOODSON Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 11/02/2014 12:57, Jan Moon wrote: > > > > > I cannot find this man in 1861 - everything else I know about him, he > marries in Great Grimsby to Elizabeth GOOSEMAN in 1865 - but where is > he hiding in 1861?
