Maybe you might not have seen the beginning of this conversation that I was having with Bill in Canada, about the fact that everything that I print off from Family Search comes printed in a Foreign Language, and we have been trying to find the reason. My printer company disclaim's any responsibility, which I well understand, and likewise Family Search. Bill Stratton, was trying to find the answer to the question that I had sent to Family search, about the correct origin of my wife's Gr.Gr Grandfather William Andrew(s) Dob .abt. 1807 ish, born in either Collingham Notts, or Wellingore Lincs. William married Ann Barton of Collingham Notts, which might well be where the confusion started, William seemed to be quite confused from way back, because he told the enumerator on the Census in 1841 that he came from Collingham, but in the 1851 census he said he was born in Wellingore. another problem in the early days of discovery, was that he said that his wife 's name was Ann Thompson, and it was not until I got one of the girl children's birth cert. that I found that the child's middle name was Barton. It might seem pedantic, but the problem is that I need to know which family William came from to be able to know which one to pursue for relatives beyond 1800. As to you suggestion of the two William's that you put forward, there are many others in the same area and date throughout Lincolnshire, that I am aware of. Lastly, William Andrew(s) married Ann Barton in Carlton le Moorland Lincolnshire 06-02-1832. Hi Barry I replied to one of your previous posts on your problem of printing in foreign languages but don't believe you replied to it So will try again Its usually a process of elimination Is it the download, the computer or the printer? What are you downloading that prints in a foreign language? And in what format? (jpeg, pdf, etc) Do you have an example so we can try the same and see what we get Is it in English on your computer before you try and print it? If you try from another computer do you get the same problem? Can you try a different printer? Hi again Re William ANDREW (in all census he is ANDREW) I found him in 1871 born Collingham Notts & 1881 enumerated as born South Collingham Notts In 1861 enumerated as born Wellingore Lincolnshire (all dittoed from above) In 1851 enumerated as born Wellingore Lincs In 1841 he is enumerated as *not* born in the County where enumerated (ie not Lincs) Same for Ann (N) children John, William , Mary , Benjamin & Ann were all (Y) ie born *in* Lincolnshire Unfortunately the census were not that accurate and many mistakes and misinterpretations can be found therein, in theory neither William or Ann should have been born in Lincolnshire (from the 1841 its hard to say for certain, both look like an N, but Williams might be interpreted as a Y = Yes born in County) Wellingore Lincs is only about 12 miles from Collingham Notts, it is possible William was born in one and baptised in the other, hence the possible confusion Given his later birthplaces, the following looks a good candidate England, Select Births and Christenings, 1538-1975 about William Andrews Name: William Andrews Gender: Male Birth Date: 3 Mar 1807 Baptism Date: 8 Mar 1807 Baptism Place: South Collingham,Nottingham,England Father: Edward Andrews Mother: Ann FHL Film Number: 503484, 504061, 504069, 504089 Source Information: Ancestry.com. Hi Barry You are right that I didn't follow the conversation as I had no idea how to solve the problem. I responded when you mentioned William Andrew just to be sure we are not looking at the same William. As things have turned out we are not. It is always a problem with the Andrew name when an 's' is added. Should the 's' be there are not? That is the question. It is the same with other surnames ending with an 's' I just takes one person to add or miss it then the whole thing changes.
