Hello Sara That is right, you probably know that Sir Isaac did not marry, but there are a lot of 'cousins' in the Newton family and it may be there. I am back to within 50 years maximum to Benjamin and his family and have not yet met a Bacon family. if that helps. Will certainly tell you if I do. There has been no Smith so far either so this could mean that the connection is through a daughter, grandaughter etc. The Newton project could be interesting if they look at the Smith side too. However there has been some perhaps 'disinterest' for the Smith side from the Newton side. However that was years ago. Will have a look at that project. Have started to look at Russ's information.
