I am trying to find any newpaper articles on the death in 1945 of Beatrice Hackney. She weighed in at 38 stone (before it was fashionable to weigh in at such amounts) and apparently was the largest lady in Lincoln, and they had to take most of the front of the house off to get her body out, she was the owner of the a fish and chip shop on steep hill, which probably explains as fish and chips were not rationed how she got to such a weight in times of rationing, she was also my great grandmother, any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Elaine Westaway Hampshire UK
Presumably you have a date of death, and if so the staff at Lincoln Central library might be willing to look for any newspaper articles (for free) and send you copies , though you might have to pay for the latter. Worth asking. http://www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/residents/discover-libraries/what-we-offer/lincoln-central-library/ The British Newspaper Archive doesn't seem to have Lincoln papers covering 1945 yet. It does have the Stamford Mercury to 1945 but I'm not sure just how much county-wide coverage would have been in the paper then.
