Karen, the 5th entry on page 2 appears to be George the son of Richard Savage(?) baptised on August 7th. The fourth entry is a wedding on the 28th May and I wouldn't like to say what the rest of the line says without seeing the original register under the UV lamp! As for Christyne's surname, it looks to me like GODSAFFE! Luckily the vicar's name is George (compare his G at the bottom of the page with the first letter of the surname). It is definitely an "s" in the middle and two "ff"s at the end. Perhaps the Bishops Transcripts (should they survive for that date) are a little clearer? If it is in the BTs it should be on the IGI. Hi all, I have been on Lincs to the past website image 2 of Fulstow General Register 1586-1733 <http://www.lincstothepast.com/Records/RecordDisplayTranscript.aspx?oid=5478 13&iid=502697> I'm looking for the marriage of Henry PORTAS - I can't make out what the (about) 5th entry is for that page. Part of the page is folded over, so it is a little iffy as to what that entry is. Hopefully it is his first marriage. I can't see who his wife is either. Further down on that page is a baptism of who I believe to be his first child - a son Henry. On the 1597 right side page of image #8 <http://www.lincstothepast.com/Records/RecordDisplayTranscript.aspx?oid=5478 13&iid=502703>, lower middle is a marriage of Henrye PORTAS to a Chrystyne [somebody]. I have do idea what her surname should be. I have looked at other pages for names similar, but didn't spot any. I am hoping this is Henry's second marriage and someone knows that surname in question. Would anyone have access to these pages with a clearer view? Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is remarkable... I never would have guessed at GODSAFFE either. You are so good! I just went back to the image page 2 and the entry is the fourth. Sorry about that. I do see PORTAS for sure on that line. I'm coming to Lincs this summer and hope to spend a little time at the Archives. I have another surname which is of my 7th great grandmother that I really need some help with. There are no BTs for that period in Wold Newton unfortunately. I found the marriage in the year 1678/79 between William PORTAS and Syllina ??? Rex took a peek at it and said a UV light might help read it. Can anyone use a UV light at the Archives? I wrote about it on my blog page <http://familyhistorywithalookingglass.blogspot.com/2013/11/church-record-sunday-syllina-whats-her.html> I hope I see you at the Archives. We met once before many years ago and you advised me a little on my researching. Thanks so much for all your help. If you come to the Archives on a Wed, Thurs or Fri during the summer I will be there, except for the 16-28 (roughly) of June when I shall be in New Mexico!! If they will let me have the Fulstow register we'll have a look with the lamp. I just did a quick search on Family Search for GODSAFFE and found several - some in Lincolnshire, the nearest to Fulstow was Wragby, and there are some in Kesteven. Can't say I've ever seen the name before.
